WORCESTER — The Worcester Redevelopment Authority board approved a second amendment to the Denholm Building land disposition agreement, raising the sale price to $3 million. The unanimous roll call vote extends the developer's due diligence period by 12 months, to March 2027, after the WRA agreed to handle abatement and demolition itself. Staff member Peter Dunn told the board the WRA and developer must agree on specific "turnover conditions" by December 31, 2026, and that construction could begin in early 2028.
The board, newly led by city manager appointee Chair Pitcher, also elected Mr. Pepper as secretary and a vice chair by self-nomination. Separately, Dunn said proposals for the Luciano's and Grand Hall spaces at Union Station are due in June, and WRA expenditures totaled $392,549 for the April 8 to May 11 period.
