Other Committee · Meeting of October 8, 2026
Worcester's License Commission suspended two businesses after separate alcohol violations at a Thursday hearing. Mexicali Cantina Grill on Shearsby Street drew a 10-day suspension, five days to serve October 19-23, after police found 15 underage patrons, ages 17 to 20, drinking margaritas with fake out-of-state IDs during a September 3 compliance check; owner David Brambila testified the restaurant had no manager on duty that night. "That night, there was no manager," said server Andres Paulino.
Marlboro Foods Inc., operating a 7-Eleven at 1442 Grafton Street, received a one-day suspension for October 23 after an August compliance check found expired server-training certifications and a previously posted liquor license that employees could not locate. Co-owner Atul Joshi said, "I accept my mistake, but it's not happened again." The commission also approved a liquor license transfer for Peppercorn's to Joseph Kaplan.
