The Worcester Affordable Housing Trust Fund has awarded $1.35 million to support the development of 74 affordable homes in the city, City Manager Eric D. Batista's office announced. The funding is aimed at expanding the city's affordable housing stock as part of the trust fund's ongoing mission to back new construction citywide.

Separately, city health officials confirmed a human case of West Nile virus after the virus was detected in mosquitoes collected from a trap site in Worcester, according to a City of Worcester announcement. Officials did not immediately detail additional precautions beyond standard mosquito-bite prevention guidance.
