The Worcester Historical Commission voted unanimously to approve five historic district projects and designated the Burncoat Street Walls as locally historically significant.

Historical Commission · Meeting of September 17, 2026

The Worcester Historical Commission voted unanimously to approve five historic district projects and designated the Burncoat Street Walls as locally historically significant. Major approvals included a 44-unit housing addition at 172 Shrewsbury Street and slate-salvage roof repair at 1 Westminster Street, while two applications for storefront work at 244 Pleasant Street and 705 Main Street were continued to October 1. The Burncoat Street Walls, maintained by residents on public right-of-way land, were found to meet criteria for architectural significance and broad patterns of neighborhood history.

All seven commissioners voted unanimously on each matter.
