Other Committee · Meeting of August 19, 2026

Worcester's Traffic and Parking Committee voted to pursue a state truck-ban study for Lake Avenue and Hamilton Street. District 3 Councilor John Frasolo told the committee GPS routing sends CSX-bound trailer trucks off Route 20 and onto the two residential streets, and more than a dozen neighbors said the trucks are cracking century-old foundations and shaking houses "day and night." Commissioner Stephen Raleigh of the Department of Transportation and Mobility said Massachusetts, not the city, has final say on any exclusion, and warned that Lake Avenue's "principal arterial" classification makes approval "an uphill climb." The panel voted 3-0 to request the required engineering study. Separately, the Worcester City Clerk's Office warned that a fraudulent email demanded a $1,950 wire-transfer payment from parking-petition applicants, falsely claiming to be from a City of Worcester "Planning Commission."
