Worcester Board of Health upheld tobacco enforcement against Olympic Wine and Spirits. The board voted 4-0 to affirm a $1,000 fine and three-day sales suspension after the retailer sold flavored cigars to a youth on July 24, 2026. Store owner William Krisity argued the sale was an isolated employee error and requested a warning instead.
Board Chair Frances Anthes and Dr. Patrick Lowe emphasized the regulations' intent to protect youth and noted education and outreach would accompany enforcement. The board is developing a retailer education initiative.
The meeting also included presentations on communicable disease trends, kratom products and the state ban, Community HealthLink transitions, homelessness response, and immigration status issues.
